Default to be MM or not to be MM

my first character of GW was a necro, unfortuantely i had to delte him . as of late i have been wanting to make another to replace my lost necro since i have 2 extra character slots with nothing in them. i have been hearing a lot about MMs and that kind of thing and i was thinking that i wanted to make one for myself. i want to, but i have heard many negatives about them.

1. they are boring
2. they dont work as well as thy used to for some reason
3. they arent very fun or good

so since i cant make up my own mind i call to all of you guru fans out there to give me some help plz. ups and downs and all arounds of the MM.

thnx in advance

Well, I'd say a MM is about as boring as a Barrage build. But, don't let the nay-sayers sway you, they are still extremely powerful and are highly desired in many areas of PvE.

Make your Necro a N/Me, and if you don't like MM, then go SS or some other hex heavy buiold. I've got that and it's fun as heck to play.

Hee hee hee...

love being a MM. people panicked with the factions release nerf of MM, buy they are more powerful, IMO. I enjoy it, keeps me busy, and makes me feel godly

They are undoubtedly the strongest character in PVE. And I think they are the funnest character I have ever played. Thats my opinion though.

They arent as powerful as they used to be....sadly the are still the strongest.

MM is a great character and lots of fun

but if you will not like to play MM, necros are extremmely versatile, so you can change directions. i think a necro is a MUST in evrey account...

Love my MM, I waited until right before factions was released (had the game 10 months now - almost time for two chars to get thier mini-pet )and I could kick myself. I ended up deleting her and rerolling a Cantahn one - much prefer the new models.

In prophecies they aren't very good until you get fiends and veratas/blood of the master - fairly late in the game. I played one until kryta and deleted her out of frustration. Later I had a e/n go through the game and unlocked all the skills. By then MM'rs running thirsty were well known making me interested - WOW was all I could say with a sup death rune, max points I could get into death, and some minion healing ability. Even WOW at low levels. Plus there is just something about a little tiny female having an undead army.

Though, yes, there was some more fun before the nerf. I got a free "run" from beacons to Kryta (wanting to transfer to cantha, though I ended up deleting her), ended up in the ice caves getting bored and killing the ettins there, I had about 20 minions and caught up with the runner (very glad I didn't pay). With the rest of the trip they mostly just watched me bowl over everything in existence. Can still do that, just not quite as well. Against higher level (20+) mobs the changes seem to help quite a bit though.

There is nothing like looking at a sea of red dots and thinks "Ooooh, army of potential undead" instead of "Oh crap - hope I can just pull a few". Though, until you get your army up your not worth much - but once you do you can solo much of the game as long as you keep getting corpses (I blew through the sing jea stuff, in Vizunah 2/3 of the other team leftand I was clueless as to where to go and no one person - including henchies - died).

Plus, you know that level 12 asassissin/monk or wammo wanting a group in the cantha mainland that commercials as a tank or healer? lots of corpses for minions and is now a VERY valuable member of the party

1. MM boring? Not at all, they're fun to play and are very useful for a variety of situations.

2. Don't work as well? Well they may have nerfed Verata's Sacrifice, but that doesn't mean that they aren't still useful. Especially since I've been able to finish Nahpui Quarter in 20 minutes with several groups. Added to that you can do many things with a necro other than MM.

3. Aren't fun or good? Well I suppose that's a determination you're going to have to make for yourself. Try making one and testing it out. But in my experience MM's are very fun and good for PvE.

I started a Necro character and right now it's my favorite. Of course, when there's another MM in the same party, things could get tricky. There was one MM who got profane with me because I putrid exploded a couple bodies, which was actually strategically done and one explosion killed three enemies. Three bodies right there. So for the first time, because he was extremely profane, I left the party and joined another.

Some time after he proceeded to whisper me more harrassment, so I put him on ignore.

That's the only drawback to being an MM, when there's another in the same team.

My mm was my third character but second to lvl 20. I just had my ranger unlock fiends, BoTM and Verita's sacrifice. It was still hard up untill about lvl 13 or so. My minions were too weak and energy was a huge problem still. But after that, I just steam rolled everything. He's currently in droknar's forge about to do the last attribute points quest. And then, on to steam rolling cantha once I get golems.

I've been contemplating an MM. It seems like a very fun and laid back fight with him. Both of my characters are always in the heat of battle (a E/W that tanks and nukes very efficently, and a Wa/Mo [hey... who doesn't?}). This seems like it would definetly broaden my horizons and make the game in a new light.

Once upon a time....there were Minion Masters roaming the land of Tyria. They had the power raise and maintain undead armies up to 80 strong. They could move across the battlefeild in a huge, putrid wind of death and destruction, wiping out all who dared oppose them.

In a far away land, in another world, a land called America....a guild called Hasbro was working on an evil weapon in the guise of a child's toy. This weapon came in many forms for which to play many games: ball of bases, ball of the foot and other strange and wonderous games. Mankind could watch their children engage in mock battle with much less chance of injury...this weapon? The Nerf! It is told that these children have grown soft, and spend hours in front of glowing boxes, some wishing they were Tyrians.

Shortly after the exploration of Cantha began, this weapon, often refered to as "The Nerf Bat" was used to pound the Minion Masters of old into submission. While these great dealers of death can now raise more types of minions (a great talent they learned from Canthan wisdom) their powers have been curtailed by a spell of binding from the demigods known far and wide in both lands: the gods of ANet. This spell used the powerful Nerf to limit the minion armies to a mere 10 undead abominations.

While still powerful, Minion Masters no longer have the abitlity to choke a battlefield with the walking dead, but they can raise more powerful dead than before. They have learned the secrets of creating Flesh Golems...those horrid beasts, towering over a man by twice his height. Also, Vampiric Horrors that can rob a man of his life and feed it to its master.

While they scream at the gods and curse them with the word "NERF!!!!" they are still quite powerful and will be masters of the dark arts, striking terror into the hearts of all those who must face them while they have a full compliment of horrors and they are with a spent resurrection signet...NEVER enter battle without one.

You will often encounter Minion Masters complaining bitterly about their curse...don't let them fool you...they can still kill you and use your corpse to create a foul undead thing that will rise and slay your companions...they are deadly.

Like i said before, I wish the MM nerf was only effective in PvP. I can understand that. But why should it matter in PvE? We already have max att point level 20 tanks and others helping people in the first missions.

I think that was more about the farming builds that grew around the mass mobs of minions, like the 5 Man Oro builds for SF and the b/p builds for Tombs.

Truth is you should think about your personal playing style and if summoning and maintaining little minions suits your playing style.

I have several chars and find my necro is my favorite. Not only do I love raising minions, the SS echo build and orders build have their place.

Being a MM is not boring to me. It is very challenging to keep the group up, deciding which minions to raise, and also managing your energy at the same time. It does require a bit of concentration, and if you are working with a fast-moving group such as in tombs, it can be quite challenging.

Early on necros can be frustrating to deal with as they do not have the power they do later in the game.

One thing I do avoid with my necro is being a pure battery. A group that is looking for a pure battery necro with BiP and BR is lacking in energy management skills, and has to be one of the most boring things you can do as a necro.

i just love how everyone has said well the cap on mm s now make them suck lol. in no way shape or form are they useless. so you have a cap of 10 big deal with the amount of npc monsters you never run out of corpses to keep up a constant amount of full health minions. a mm with 9 fiends and a flesh golem all attacking the same target can you say ouch.
